Belt and Road Scholarship Shaanxi Normal University 2026

The Belt and Road Scholarships at Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) aim to attract international students from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative to Xi’an and create a “City of International Students.” The program supports:

• Bachelor’s students
• Master’s students
• PhD students
• Non-degree program students (1-year study)

It provides a fully funded opportunity to pursue higher education in China while experiencing a culturally rich environment.

Students enrolled in Chinese-taught programs must complete mandatory Chinese language training depending on their HSK level.

Scholarship Coverage

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

• Nationality: Citizens of countries along the Belt and Road Initiative
• Health: Must be in good health
• Degree & Age Limits:
• Bachelor: High school graduate, under 30
• Master: Bachelor’s degree, under 35
• PhD: Master’s degree, under 40
• Non-degree: High school graduate, under 45
• Scholarship History: Students with other subsidized scholarships are generally not eligible
• Language Requirements:
• Chinese-taught Programs:
  • Humanities: HSK4 required; one-year Chinese training if HSK5 not achieved
  • Science & Arts: One-year Chinese training; HSK4 required
• English-taught Programs:
  • IELTS ≥ 5.0 or TOEFL ≥ 50 (except native speakers)
  • HSK3 required upon graduation
• Priority: Applicants with research achievements or awards may be prioritized

Application Procedure

1. Online Application:

• Submit via SNNU Online Application System: https://snnu.17gz.org
• Print a hard copy of the completed form

1. Submit Documents by Post:

• Send all required documents to the International Students Office before June 20, 2026

1. Preliminary Examination:

• Material review, interviews, and comprehensive assessment

1. Final Auditing:

• Xi’an Government announces the admission list online (July–August 2026)

1. Automatic Consideration:

• Applicants who do not receive the Chinese Government Scholarship will be automatically considered for the Belt and Road Scholarship

Required Documents (Submit in Duplicate)

1. Application Form (Chinese or English) – online submission and hard copy
2. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy) – include current enrollment proof if applicable
3. Academic transcripts (Chinese or English) – notarized translation if required
4. Research results – published papers, awards, or certificates
5. Study Plan / Research Proposal –

• Master: ≥ 800 words
• PhD: ≥ 1500 words

1. Two Recommendation Letters – signed by professors or associate professors
2. Valid HSK certificate or English proficiency certificate (photocopy)
3. Passport photocopy (photo page)
4. Valid No Criminal Activity Certificate – notarized and translated
5. Foreigner Physical Examination Form – must be complete and signed, valid for 6 months

Note:

• Bind documents in the order 1–10 in the top-left corner
• Submit two sets to Shaanxi Normal University
• Documents will not be returned
